Catrien Ross on Engaging Your Nature Within and Without through ...

How connected with your own inner nature do you feel today?

Your inner nature expresses the ebb and flow of your personal rhythms.

You rush forward to meet life or you withdraw ? often in confusion and doubt ? according to the timing of rhythms expressing within you at any particular moment.

Your personal cycles and rhythms reflect the greater natural world communicating through you.

Your sensory experience is actually Nature connecting with nature within you.

Since 2007 I have been teaching and writing in Japan about Natural Energy Wisdom,? the self-growth process I originated.

Designed to empower and unfold your inner, innate wisdom, Natural Energy Wisdom? is the result of my personal study of natural cycles and rhythms experienced through living for over 15 years in the mountains of Yamanashi, Japan.

This self-growth process arises from the wisdom of your inner nature interconnecting and interacting with the greater world of Nature that supports you and sustains you.

It also honors your natural creativity, your natural essence, as well as your natural intelligence.

At the same time, Natural Energy Wisdom? teaches you to become aware of the communication you continually have with your body, with your mind, with your spirit, with natural energy flows.

Your natural sensations and feelings are important because they constantly call your attention to the situation or focus that aroused those feelings in the first place.

Your good feelings, for example, indicate your continuing natural survival.

You learn what is healthy and supportive for you.

Natural sensations were not invented by human beings.

Each natural sense you experience is actually Nature speaking to you and through you.

As you recognize what is essential for your survival, you also learn what does not support you and sustain you.

For example, becoming aware of your inner nature while consciously connecting with Nature gives you a very special feeling of self-acceptance and compassionate love.

As your awareness deepens, in your personal relationships and situations you more and more begin to look for this love and acceptance you sense within Nature and within yourself.

Little by little, you learn to transform or release relationships and situations that do not reflect this deeper self-esteem.

So connecting with your inner nature and Nature means connecting with the deepest and wisest part of yourself.

I see Natural Energy Wisdom? as a natural bridge integrating body, mind and spirit.

As such, it works both with the intrinsic intelligence of the DNA in the cells of your body, and also with the greater intelligence of the cosmos.

Yet nature connection is not an intellectual exercise you simply read about in a book or listen to at some lecture.

At its heart, Natural Energy Wisdom? encourages you to be very real, very vital, very practical.

Because you become physically and spiritually grounded, you empower the active now, the present reality of your actual life.

One critical pillar of Natural Energy Wisdom? is physically connecting again by going outside into the natural world.

As you replenish your connections you rediscover your natural spiritual connection.

Connecting with Nature is thus a profound way to unfold yourself spiritually.

You find yourself expressing your natural spirituality in your daily life through increasingly healthy integration of the many aspects of your body, mind, spirit.

Through Natural Energy Wisdom? you rediscover for yourself that cosmic energy and your personal energy are one and the same.

You stimulate the joy of engaging your nature within and without.

And you affirm the certainty of empowering your natural energy flows.

This article is the first in a series of blog posts about Natural Energy Wisdom.?

My self-growth process was introduced in my book, Hikari no Uzu, published in Japanese by Energy Doorways in 2009.

Now, as I begin writing about Natural Energy Wisdom? in English, I would love to hear your comments and insights.

How do you feel right now about your own inner nature and the ebb and flow of your natural rhythms and cycles?

Harry Potter tour shows behind-camera wizardry

A new tour at the film studios outside London where the Harry Potter blockbusters were shot aims to champion the "unsung heroes" ? from seamstresses to special effects wizards ? who made the movies magical for millions.

"Warner Bros. Studio Tour - The Making of Harry Potter" opens to the public on Saturday, and organizers expect 5,000 visitors to file past the familiar sets, strange creatures and scale models every day.

They enter through the famous Great Hall, a cavernous room with stone-like walls, real stone floors and graffiti-marked tables where students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry ate their feasts and enjoyed the Yule Ball.

Also preserved from the original films are Gryffindor Common Room, Professor Dumbledore's office, the potions classroom, Hagrid's hut, the Weasleys' kitchen and a section of the Ministry of Magic.

The giant spider Aragog, a version of the animatronic "Hippogriff" Buckbeak and eerily life-like models of the actors allow visitors to study up close the painstaking craftsmanship that every scene involved.

The animatronic Aragog, for example, needed 100 technicians to operate, real goat hair was inserted strand by strand to create Greyback's werewolf face and Ollivanders shop in Diagon Alley contained 17,000 individually labeled wand boxes.

"There's just so much detail in everything," said Rupert Grint, who played Harry's best friend Ron Weasley in the films.

"I'm so happy it hasn't all been put away into storage and collected dust and forgotten about because it's something that really needs to be celebrated," he told Reuters, sitting in the Weasley kitchen.

The output of hundreds of people working behind the camera on sets, costumes, masks and props were combined with computer-generated images in what special effects supervisor John Richardson called a unique collaboration.

"I've worked on nine of the (James) Bond movies and they didn't have the same look or aspect or thought process, if you like, that's gone into the Potters.

"Never before have you had a group of technicians work for 10 years, 12 years in my case, all on the same film without, virtually, a break."

The tour, which lasts around three hours, finishes with a walk along Diagon Alley which leads eventually to a large room filled with a huge scale model of Hogwarts castle.

Its courtyards, towers and turrets were filmed and enhanced with digital effects and more than 2,500 lights were installed to simulate lanterns and torches inside.

Early reviews of the attraction at Leavesden Studios just outside London have been mixed, with some criticism leveled at the ticket prices and other costs.

Adults pay 28 pounds ($45) and children 21 pounds ($34), and a pass for a family of four costs 83 pounds ($133). Children under five go free, and tickets must be booked online in advance. There are tickets available for most week days over the coming months.

Visitors also have to pay for transport ? a short train ride from London, for example, followed by a special bus service from Watford Junction, and they exit the tour through a gift shop where the most expensive item is a replica of the robes worn by Dumbledore costing 495.95 pounds ($790).

Many of the sets are cordoned off, although interactive elements include a "magic" iron moving at the wave of a wand, touchscreens helping children navigate Hogwarts and broomsticks to sit on and "fly" over digitally imposed backgrounds.

"Prices aside, the tour is a must-see for Potter fans and a fitting monument to the team who created Britain's most successful film franchise," said Anita Singh in the Telegraph.

Personal Loan Or Quick Online Loan - Which One To Apply For?

Quick Online Loan Quick Online Loan Quick Online Loan

Everyone will need to consider finance at some point in their life when there just isn?t enough money lying around in a bank account

to cover an expense. There are different sorts of finance available from a plethora of lenders and so it is important that a potential

borrower considers all of them carefully in order to get the best deal for their needs.

The two main types of finance that most consumers will consider will be Quick Online Loans and personal loans. Both have their pros

and cons and both can be suitable depending on circumstances. The first thing to consider is what the finance is needed for. There is

nothing worse than getting towards the end of the month and finding a sudden, unexpected bill arises that needs settling. A major car

or house repair always seems to crop up at just the wrong time and can be the thing that pushes cash flow over the edge as payday

approaches. In this instance the amount needed may be comparatively small to some expenditure and only needed for a short

amount of time before money will next flow into the bank account. The other things that a consumer may need extra funding for are

larger purchases such as a car or a holiday, or home improvements. In this case the amount needed may be far greater and it might

not be possible to repay quickly.

Anyone considering finance should always ensure they understand the repayment terms and have the wherewithal to meet their

required repayment schedule. Anyone failing to do so could find themselves in debt crisis and having an adverse credit rating.

The Communications Network ? Fall 2012 Annual Conference

?

A Conference in Three Acts: Oct. 10-12, Seattle

Reserve Your Spot?

Session Proposals Welcome

The Communications Network will be hosting its annual fall conference in Seattle from Wednesday, October 10 ? Friday, October 12.? And this year, our conference is co-sponsored by CommA, that super-smart, savvy group of communications folks who work at community foundations.? CommA co-sponsored our 2010 conference in Los Angeles, and we?re delighted to?to have them back!

As we do each and every year, we?re going to keep inventing.? Here?s what you should know about what we have planned:

Wednesday, 1 ? 5 pm
Act I:? Build your skills, refresh the fundamentals

Normally, we don?t have a conference program on Wednesday afternoon.? And we don?t this time, either.? But in response to attendee feedback, we?re going to offer a series of workshops from 1 ? 5 on Wednesday afternoon for people who want to build/polish/hone their communications skills.? These workshops are going to be taught by consultants who have been working with foundations and their grantees for many years, and who are going to focus on the skills that we use in our daily jobs:? messaging, social media tactics, evaluation, etc. ?Final topics will be determined soon, and participation in the workshops will require a fee in addition to the usual conference registration. Advance sign-up through our conference registration form, which we?ll be sending out shortly, will also be required.

The conference itself officially begins with a reception on Wednesday evening generously hosted by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.? Their new building is a must-see.

Thursday, 8:30 ? 5 pm
Act II:? Think and learn with us.

On Thursday, all day, we?ll be offering the kind of conference that you?ve come to expect from the Network ? ?speakers and breakout sessions designed to give your brains a workout.? We have two fabulous plenary speakers:?Sherman Alexie and Jane McGonigal.

Sherman Alexie ??author, poet and screenwriter ??was named one of?The New Yorker?s 20 top writers for the 21st century.?After growing up on a Spokane Indian Reservation in Washington, a college professor recognized his ?intensity of language, passion, and energy.? A gifted orator, Alexie tells tales of contemporary American Indian life laced with razor-sharp humor, unsettling candor and biting wit. According to a reviewer from the University of Puget Sound, Alexie ??teaches, entertains and inspires ? interculturally, intergenerationally and with a flair for taking you to a creative playground that is both familiar and unfamiliar to all of us.?

Jane McGonigal, creative director, Social Chocolate and author?of?The New York Times?bestseller, ?Reality Is Broken,??is a designer of?alternate reality games, where a real-life activity is re-framed as a game. Her belief is that whatever the challenge, we can face it more boldly if we bring to it a?gameful state of mind.?She has created and deployed award-winning?games all over the word?for partners such as the American Heart Association, the International Olympics Committee, the World Bank Institute and the New York Public Library. She specializes in games that?challenge players to tackle real-world problems,?such as poverty, hunger and climate change,?through planetary-scale collaboration.??(For the marathoners among you,?check out this interview?with McGonigal in the current?Runner?s World.)

In between, our opening and closing speakers on Thursday, you can partake in breakout sessions based on topics you?suggested in the survey about last year?s conference in Boston.

Click here for instructions on how to submit a proposal for a conference session.? Session proposals are due by May 15. The conference committee on the Network Board will review, and we?ll announce the final roster by June 15.

After a day of great speakers and breakout sessions on topics you told us you cared about, conference attendees are invited to dine around the great city of Seattle.? Don?t worry?we?ll have lots of suggestions for where you should go.

Friday, 8:30 ? 11:30 am
Act III:? In Which We All Peek Into the Crystal Ball, Together

The Communications Network Board has been doing some heavy thinking about the future.? The Board has developed a blueprint for what the Communications Network might be and do, and on Friday morning of the conference, we?d like to share our thinking.? And then have you, Network members, weigh in.? We?re going to ask for your input on how we achieve our goals.? The goals are ambitious, but they felt right to the Board and to our Executive Director, and now we want to see if they feel right to the Network?s?.network.*

Friday morning will begin with some thoughts in plenary, then we?ll be breaking into smaller groups and figuring out creative, fun ways to get your input.? We?ll end, as always, with the Big Reveal of next year?s conference location.

We?ll be starting registration in a few weeks. But for now, if you want to be sure we have a place for you, you should email brucet@comnetwork.org. We?ll put your name on the list to receive the first registration invitations. ?In the meantime, don?t hesitate to email or call 212-731-2268 if you have questions.

*For those of you who wonder, ?Gee, sounds like these exercises would be good for the Network?but what?s in this for me??? Here?s an answer ? the future we?ll be looking at and planning for is the same one you?ll be experiencing in your own work ? the future where communications patterns and processes are changing every day.? By helping the Network plan, you?ll be launching your own thinking beyond current boundaries?and that can?t help but impress your boss.

Video shows handcuffed FL shooter Zimmerman

(AP) ? A security video shot after the slaying of Trayvon Martin shows admitted shooter George Zimmerman being led in handcuffs from a police car, and an attorney for the teen's family said it is obvious to him that Zimmerman did not have injuries to his face and head as his supporters have asserted.

Sanford police Sgt. David Morgenstern on Wednesday confirmed that the video being shown by ABC News is of Zimmerman. The 28-year-old's head and face are visible throughout and he is dressed in a red and black fleece jacket. Police are shown frisking Zimmerman whose hands were handcuffed behind his back. They then lead him into a building.

Zimmerman said that on Feb. 26 he was pursuing the 17-year-old Martin, who was not armed, because the teen was acting suspiciously. He said he lost sight of the black teenager and Martin attacked him as he headed back to his sport utility vehicle. Zimmerman's father is white and his mother is Hispanic.

The neighborhood watch volunteer told police he fired in self-defense and he was not arrested, touching off widespread public outrage and protests across the country. Zimmerman's attorney, Craig Sonner, has said in more than one interview that his client's nose was broken during the fight with Martin.

The Orlando Sentinel, citing anonymous sources, has reported that Martin grabbed Zimmerman's head and banged it several times against the sidewalk. A statement from Sanford police said the newspaper's story was "consistent" with evidence turned over to prosecutors.

Sonner said the gash on the back of Zimmerman's head probably was serious enough for stitches, but he waited too long for treatment so the wound was already healing. Miguel Meza, who identified himself as Zimmerman's cousin, said Zimmerman was in "the fight of his life."

"This certainly doesn't look like a man who police said had his nose broken and his head repeatedly smashed into the sidewalk," Ben Crump, an attorney for Martin's family, said in a statement. "George Zimmerman has no apparent injuries in this video, which dramatically contradicts his version of the events of February 26."

Sonner did not immediately return an after-hours call to his office.

Crump called the video "riveting" and "icing on the cake" that Zimmerman should be held accountable for what happened.

Since the shooting, Zimmerman's supporters say he's gone into hiding and that he and his family have gotten death threats.

Martin's supporters, including a host of outspoken celebrities and civil rights leaders who have appeared on television for the past two weeks, don't believe Zimmerman's story. They want him arrested and prosecuted.

Sam Worthington Laughs Off 'Titans' Hair Controversy

'I got more criticism about my hair than Jennifer Aniston did when she started 'Friends,' ' the 'Wrath of the Titans' star quips to MTV News.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

When previews began to play for "Wrath of the Titans," the follow-up to 2010's "Clash of the Titans," the element of the trailer that got the biggest reaction wasn't the mythological beasts or the battling gods, but the longer locks on star Sam Worthington's head.

Gone was Perseus' anachronistic buzz cut from the original — a nitpicking problem for some who saw "Clash" — and in its stead was Worthington's naturally curly hair.

"I got more criticism about my hair than Jennifer Aniston did when she started 'Friends,' " Worthington quipped to MTV News.

With so much of the attention leading into the film's premiere focused squarely on Worthington's head, the actor told MTV News he isn't too worried about those people's opinions. "My brain goes, 'If that's the only thing you're going to be focusing on, maybe you should get out more,' " Worthington said.

Liam Neeson, Worthington's co-star, offered some kind words about the change in hairdo.

"His hair was good," Neeson said.

"The hair was good," Worthington agreed.

Within the fictional realm of "Wrath of the Titans," the change in hairstyle makes sense for its own reasons. "The story jumps 10 years," Neeson said. The sequel picks up a decade after the end of "Clash of the Titans." Perseus is now a father and recent widower, and it isn't long before his deadbeat dad Zeus comes a-callin', asking for help once more.

Still, Worthington continued to make light of the hairy discussion, suggesting that if the franchise were to continue, his hair options have no bounds. "It took Perseus 10 years. If we did another one, I'd just go longer. I'll just keep going," he said. "By the time you get to 'Wrath of the Titans 10,' I'll look like Cousin Itt."

"And each hair is a demigod," Neeson added. "Think about that."

Check out everything we've got on "Wrath of the Titans."

(AP) ? People queuing up for Mega Millions tickets aren't the only ones salivating over the record $540 million jackpot that could be won Friday ? some state governments struggling through lean times know a hometown winner would bring a tax bonanza.

Taxes on a lump-sum payment option to a single winner could mean tens of millions of dollars of badly needed revenue that could go to restore entire social service programs on the chopping block, pay for hundreds of low-income housing units, forestall new taxes or hire more state troopers.

So many tickets have been sold that the jackpot climbed Thursday to the largest in history, according to officials in Rhode Island, one of 42 states where Mega Millions is played. If a lone winner took the lump-sum payout on the jackpot's current amount, it would be an estimated $389.8 million.

"I'd love it if a Rhode Islander wins," said Rep. Helio Melo, the chairman of the House's Finance Committee.

In Rhode Island, when the tax man comes calling for his 5.99 percent, that would mean an estimated $23.3 million, forked over in a single payment.

With it, the state could pay for most of a $25 million bond for affordable housing that voters may be asked to approve this fall. It could also help Rhode Island reach its goal for aid to school districts for the first time. The state, which has a $7.9 billion budget, is $22 million short.

A big lottery windfall wouldn't solve the state's fiscal woes, but it could help chip away at the debt, pay for one-time expenses or delay budget cuts or tax increases ? including on expensive clothing, pet grooming, car washes and taxi fares ? at least for a year, Melo said.

States set their own tax rates on lottery winnings. New York, for instance, charges 8.82 percent, while several, including California, charge none.

Ohio's share of the lump-sum payout would be $23 million, hardly pocket change but still a fraction of the state's $56 billion two-year budget.

"We're not holding our breath waiting for a tax windfall for the state, but we will always root for Ohio and Ohioans and hope lottery luck comes to a Buckeye," said Joe Testa, the state's tax commissioner.

Connecticut would get more than $26 million in state taxes from a winner who takes the lump sum. The money could be used to help fully pay for Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's proposal to channel more money to schools, said state policy Undersecretary Gian-Carl Casa.

It could also help get rid of recently imposed sales taxes on non-prescription drugs, at a cost of $17.2 million, with money left over to hire enough state police troopers to meet the statutory minimum of 1,248, at a cost of $8.9 million.

Rhode Island already has a tax windfall coming its way from two recent Powerball wins. An 81-year-old Newport woman won the Feb. 11 jackpot worth $336.4 million, and the winning ticket for $60 million jackpot on March 7 was sold here.

The Rhode Island Association of School Committees has asked the state to use the $17 million for technology and wireless Internet in schools. That would be in place of a $20 million bond.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee has said the state, which is facing a $117 million budget shortfall next fiscal year, can't rely on those lottery winnings ? and, of course, no state can. But his director of administration recently weighed in, saying of the tax payment: "We're happy to collect it."

How do we know that Challenger Deep is lowest point on Earth?

Using a custom-built submersible, filmmaker James Cameron has successfully visited the Challenger Deep, the deepest point in the world's oceans? How do we know that there isn't somewhere deeper??

James Cameron, the Canadian director of "Titanic", "Aliens" ? and let's not forget, "The Abyss" ? recently emerged from his 35,756-foot dive to the Challenger Deep.

The Challenger Deep is the lowest point in the Mariana Trench, a gap between tectonic plates that stretches 1,500 miles along the western Pacific, and is thought to be the deepest chasm in all the world's oceans. At the bottom the pressure reaches over 15,000 pounds per square inch. By comparison, everyday pressure levels hover around 15 pounds per square inch.

How do we know that Challenger Deep is the deepest point on Earth. Can we be sure that there isn't a deeper spot somewhere?

We can't. Not absolutely. The Challenger Deep was first measured by the HMS Challenger expedition in 1875, a nearly 70,000-mile scientific voyage around the globe that laid the foundations for the modern science of oceanography. To probe the ocean's depths, the Challenger's crew used simple lead weights tethered by long ropes. For this purpose, the vessel carried 144 miles of rope. The first reported depth was 26,850 feet.

In 1951, that figure increased to 35,761 feet when another royal vessel, also named the HMS Challenger, remeasured the depth using a primitive form of sonar: A pulse of sound sent deep to bounce off the abyss, then back topside to the researchers awaiting its return. The official depth would change a few more times after, recently set on 36,070 feet, confirmed with modern sonar techniques, though with a margin of error approaching over 100 feet.

So it's possible that the measured depth of the Challenger Deep could change in the future, or that some other deeper point will be discovered somewhere else. After all, it was only in 1997 that researchers discovered the?Sirena Deep, which is also located in the Mariana Trench, which they measured at?35,210 feet, less than a thousand feet shallower than the Challenger Deep.

But it's probably unlikely that we'll find a new deepest point in on an entirely different part of the world.?Bathymetry, the science of underwater topography, has long been using sophisticated sonar equipment to create digital maps of underwater terrain. Sonar beams sent to the ocean floor are updated many times per second, and verified by Global Positioning Satellites. These maps clearly indicate the Mariana Trench as the deepest of its kind, and so far the Challenger Deep is its lowest measured point. Chances are, if the depth or the location of the world's deepest point ever does change, it won't be by much.

James Cameron returns from historic submarine dive to Mariana Trench

Cameron emerges from his voyage to the bottom of the Mariana Trench (National Geographic)

Director James Cameron returned safely to the surface on Monday after entering the history books as the first solo diver to reach the depths of the Mariana Trench. The filmmaker, whose 1997 blockbuster "Titanic" won 11 Oscars, has now embarked on 72 underwater journeys.

"I felt like I, in the space of one day, had gone to another planet and come back," Cameron said in a statement.

The nearly seven-mile voyage through near freezing temperatures, to what Cameron described as a "completely featureless, alien world" similar to that of the moon's surface, was captured on 3-D video and is expected to be aired on the National Geographic Channel.

[Related: Deepest spots on Earth]

National Geographic said Cameron's trip in the submarine named the Deepsea Challenger took him 35,756 feet (10,898 meters) beneath the ocean's surface, traveling through miles of complete darkness.

"Falling through darkness?that's something that a robot can't describe," Cameron said. "Most importantly, though, is the significance of pushing the boundaries of where humans can go, what they can see and how they can interpret it."

In the weeks leading up to the Mariana Trench dive, Cameron took part in a series of test dives, during which he set the world record for the deepest solo submarine run.

[Slideshow: More photos of the Deepsea Challenger]

Cameron's descent to the Challenger Deep valley of the Mariana Trench took two hours and 36 minutes. He had originally planned to spend about six hours at the bottom, collection soil samples and even wildlife that would be brought back to the surface for further study. However, problems with the submarine's hydraulic systems cut the exploration time down to just over two and a half hours.

It was the first journey to the bottom of the Mariana Trench in 50 years. Back in 1960, two explorers made the first-ever trip aboard U.S. Navy submersible Trieste but were unable to record visible images because of silt stirred up by their contact with the ocean floor.

After a 70-minute return trip to the surface, Cameron's "vertical torpedo" sub was spotted by helicopter and was lifted from the Pacific by a research ship's crane.

?

Expedition physician Joe MacInnis called Cameron's journey "the ultimate test of a man and his machine." The water pressure at the bottom of the Mariana Trench is eight tons per square inch, or about the 1,000 times the pressure at sea level.

Cameron's dive was closely watched by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who was in attendance at the ocean's surface to watch Cameron's historic dive. Allen has been an avid supported of space exploration and owns the world's largest yacht, which comes equipped with its very own submarine.

I've been dating this woman for a couple months, everything is great. I feel like I'm letting my own insecurities get the best of me when I saw her facebook and pictures of her ex boyfriends kissing, etc...

I deleted all my pictures of my exs on FB because frankly in my mind, it's the past, I've learned from it, and don't need to see that.

She's even asked me why there are no pictures of me with girls on my FB, I told her because it's the past, I deleted them, and she said well they are your memories, don't you want to be able to look back one day when you're old and remember? I said, honestly, no, I'll be concentrating on my wife and family at that point...

Should I say something and rock the boat, or just let it be?

Like I said, the pictures are from 5 years ago, but they are a bit much, every other picture is of kissing, etc. So I can either choose to just let this go, not look at it, and forget about it, or rock the boat.

She said, I don't understand why people get so upset and crazy about a break up. I feel that if it didn't work out, then so be it. I don't need to have a ex-boyfriend fire and burn pictures, break things, throw away everything etc... It was part of my life, it didn't work out and that's it.

Some people just keep momentos. Some burn, get rid of any happy memories once a relationship is over.

Did you pitch your highschool yearbook once you graduated? Just because the pics are there, does not mean she is pining away for this guy.

In other peoples minds, that might be so. It's all about how her attitude is about keeping momentos. Some will keep letters/ poems, but no pics, some will keep movie ticket stubs from their first date. Some will keep flowers pressed in a bible.

Some people are very confident in their memories, and don't need any rememberences of the past- this seems to be you. But I don't think its a huge thing just because she deals with her past differently than you.

Would you two be compatible for marriage??- Probably not. But I don't think it should be an issue if you are just dating.

While what she says is true... you also don't need photos all up in your facebook profile either of your exes, especially intimate ones. You can still reminiesce from MEMORY. She's like a hoarder of past relationships. Like it didn't happen if she doesn't have a photo or physical reminder to trigger the memory.

It sounds to me like something you'll have to ignore if you want to stick it out with her. I don't think she realizes that something like this could be a huge turnoff for most guys.

A little creepy to me because it is on facebook which is shared.

Is she still in contact with these ex-lovers? I would assume so and that makes sense. You have only been dating a couple of months.

I would see this as a huge issue if this gets exclusive between the two of you. If you were to become engaged I would expect her not only to take these photos down from FB but to unfriend her ex-lovers and no longer be in contact with them.

But you are not there yet. It is more likely your photos will be added to the gallery and the next dude will wonder what is up with that.

I do agree I would not be comfortable with this if I were "in a relationship" with this person. It would be at least embarrassing for folks I know to go to her page, a woman I am in a relationship with and see this display. But it is interesting and something to keep an eye on fi the relationship progresses. Ideally she will take these down at some point.

BTW, what does she have on FB as her relationship status? What does your status indicate? Is your FB linked to hers in the manner? I would not until she brought those down.

I cant say that I agree. I have an old shoe box of old love letters from a guy I dated (but not involved with) from high school. The same guy I had been talking to when I met my now husband. It's sitting in the bottom of my closet. I don't long to be with this guy but I keep it around because of the memories. Same as my high school yearbook.

Yes, but they're in a box. Not up in public for people to see. Which lets other people know she's not that serious about you.

I have some things from HS. Not for me, but for my children to see that mom was a girl before she was a mom My mom showed me stuff from her teen years. I loved that.

Researchers Tweak Mouse Neurons To Activate Specific Memories

An anonymous reader writes "According to new study published in Nature (abstract), MIT researchers have figured out how to trigger specific memories in rats by hitting certain neurons with a pulse of light. From the article: 'The researchers first identified a specific set of brain cells in the hippocampus that were active only when a mouse was learning about a new environment. They determined which genes were activated in those cells, and coupled them with the gene for channelrhodopsin-2 (ChR2), a light-activated protein used in optogenetics. ... The light-activated protein would only be expressed in the neurons involved in experiential learning ? an ingenious way to allow for labeling of the physical network of neurons associated with a specific memory engram for a specific experience. Finally, the mice entered an environment and, after a few minutes of exploration, received a mild foot shock, learning to fear the particular environment in which the shock occurred. The brain cells activated during this fear conditioning became tagged with ChR2. Later, when exposed to triggering pulses of light in a completely different environment, the neurons involved in the fear memory switched on ? and the mice quickly entered a defensive, immobile crouch.'"

NEW YORK (AP) ? Stocks are bouncing between small gains and losses as investors weigh the prospects of a global economic slowdown even as several U.S. companies report strong earnings. New home sales fell last month.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 30 points to 13,075 at midday Friday. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose three to 1,395 and the Nasdaq composite fell three points to 3,059.

The Commerce Department said new-home sales fell 1.6 percent last month. Sales have fallen nearly 7 percent since December. Stocks of homebuilders fell.

Nike, FedEx, Tiffany have all reported stellar earnings this week, but investors are worried that these companies rely on sales in Asia and Europe. Reports this week indicated a possible slowdown in those economies.
