Rounding Up August 2012 - Katie the Scrapbook Lady

Whew! August was a stressful and busy month for me and I?m glad to be on the other side of it now. I always appreciate the month more when I take a few minutes to do my roundup so here goes:

?

What reading/learning did I do this month?

I did quite a bit of reading in August and I?m so happy about that! I read several books on my iPad and my favorite one was this one about The First Ladies. They were more interesting to read about than their Presidential husbands! I also started reading this book with my son for his history class. Very interesting so far!

What entertainment did I watch/listen to this month?

We?ve been watching past episodes of season 16 of Survivor. My son would like us to eventually watch all the seasons, which will be quite the feat since there are so many! We are about 2/3 of the way through it right now. I finally finished the entire Frasier series. It was a fun one to watch!

We watched the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics (still mad at NBC) and some of the events. I love it when the Olympics are on and it?s so awesome that everyone has something in common to talk about and enjoy!

?

What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?

My daughter got to attend a fun summer camp (not staying overnight, just hanging out there all day and evening) for the first week in August. She had a blast! We went to the Parade of Homes which was both fun and a disappointment. It was cool to see the home that my own Sister-in-Law decorated. Hubby and I went to a fancy dinner in an incredible home behind the State Capitol building. We went to a party at Hogle Zoo with our kids. We attended a surprise party for a family friend, went to a fashion show, and had my parents and brother come and stay with us for 5 days. My brother came to dinner on a Sunday night, now that he lives in Utah. Hubby and I also attended a barbecue dinner party. I had my annual catch-up-on-life lunch date with my forever friend and college roommate. Oh, and my kids (and I) started school again. Busy month!

What gifts did I give and/or receive?

We gave a few gifts to some cool guys we know. One was for a birthday, the other was for a friend who is heading off to college.

What special or unusual purchases did I make?

I didn?t buy much in August, except for some new clothes for my daughter. I would have liked to have found some clothes for me, but I just can?t seem to find anything right now. My clothing situation has become a little desperate as of late.

What illnesses or health concerns did I have?

The shoulder I injured back in May is still a major problem. I had two doctor?s appointments and a MRI done in August. The good news is that my rotator cuff is not torn, just really inflamed. The bad news is that I don?t seem to be getting any better. Physical therapy was causing me so much pain that my doctor suggested I take a month off and then come back for another evaluation. I?m pretty sure I?m heading for another cortisone shot (ouch!) and more physical therapy (ouch again!). My shoulder movement is pretty limited and I?m in constant pain. Other than that, my health has been good. I lost another 2 pounds in August which isn?t great, but it?s something.

?

What were my accomplishments this month?

I opened my own little Scrap Shop! I still can?t believe I really made it happen since my life has been so busy, but I?m finding a lot of joy in creating templates and I?m scrapping more than ever. It has reaffirmed how important it is to me to make time for creativity in my life. I?m so happy that so many scrappers have been enjoying my templates. I?ve received some amazing emails from some fantastic people who have told me that they are finding their scrapping mojo again. Cool!

I designed 24 different templates and scrapped more than 30 layouts using those templates! I also created some pages for features and posts at The Daily Digi so I was one busy little Scrapbook Lady with a total of 37 scrapped pages! (each one is linked for source and credits)

I did my usual posting on The Daily Digi. I thought it would be fun to link to all my posts here. I also created the graphics for each post which is kind of like creating a mini scrapbook page.

We recorded 4 episodes of The Digi Show podcast, including our 50th show where we spilled our secrets!
